Cyrus James Khan • Artist Spotlight

What got you in to Crypto art?

Though I have been in computer graphics for over 10 years, I have only been curious and exploring the Blockchain space since 2017, and remember envisioning a future of NFT's, at the time not for art but gaming. It wasn't until I saw some peers doing more and more artworks regarding Cryptocurrencies that I finally decided to jump into the art movement as well.

Where do you find your inspiration?

Through Friends, Authors, Filmmakers, and Family.

What do you think of traditional artwork?

Coming from a family of traditional and mixed-media artists, I have only but respect for those working in the Physical realm. I hope to be able to collaborate with some traditional artists in the future, onboarding them into the Blockchain movement and creating art together.

Do you think your art is fulfilling a purpose?

Yes I do. Many in fact. From simply scratching an itch of seeing classic works of fiction being brought to life in today's technology, for raising awareness regarding societal issues, as well as being a medium for researching new ways of creating immersive experiences into digital space.

How did you start out as an artist?

I started out playing in computer graphics software as an 8 year old kid doing stop motion with his LEGO's. I always knew I wanted to make movies, visuals and create worlds. It has been a development journey ever since.

Who or what inspires your work?

I am inspired by world builders, Herbert, Asimov, Tolkien, Lucas, Phillip K. Dick, and other notable names of Science fiction and Fantasy classics. I appreciate worlds that are rich in lore and details and that immerse the viewer into a full universe, not just a surface level fiction. I strive to create deep worlds, characters, and find interesting mediums for my audience to experience them.

Which other artist(s) do you admire?

Other (visual) artists that come to mind are Ralph McQuarrie & Syd Mead.

Final question, what’s next for you as an artist?

Creating high production value animated feature films as an independent artist. Continue to create Blockchain and VR application via the monetization of my own IP's.
